About MSAIMA



HISTORY

The Medical Society of Acupuncture of the Israeli Medical Association (MSAIMA) was founded in March 1994 following the decision of the Scientific Committee of the Israeli Medical Association from December 12, 1993. MSAIMA is the oldest Acupuncture Society in Israel. MSAIMA grew up from the previous Israeli Acupuncture Organization founded in 1984 - The Israeli Society of Auricular Medicine (ISAM), which was renamed later to The Israeli Society of Auricular Medicine and Acupuncture (ISAMA). During the period of 1984 – 1994 ISAM - ISAMA organized and held the following events:
  • Five scientific conferences
  • Dozens of seminars and basic and advanced courses on TCM and Auricular Medicine
  • International Symposium on Auricular Medicine (Eilat, November 1993)

In 1990 The Israeli Society of Auricular Medicine and Acupuncture (ISAMA) became a member of the International Council of Medical Acupuncture and Related Techniques (ICMART). From 1990 to 1994 ISAMA published a professional journal - Journal of Auricular Medicine and Acupuncture.

MSAIMA organized and held the following events:

  • Forteen scientific conferences
  • Dozens of seminars and basic and advanced courses on TCM, Su Jok Acupuncture and Auricular Medicine
MSAIMA published a professional journal The Israeli Journal of Medical Acupuncture (1995-1997). Thereafter, MSAIMA in cooperation with International Association of Auricular Medicine (IAAM) published a professional journal Coherence - International Journal of Integrated Medicine (1998-2002).

Members of MSAIMA are physicians (MDs), dentists (DMDs), veterinarians (DVMs), scientists (PhDs) medical professionals who do not possess the medical license from the Israeli Ministry of Health, biologists and graduates of complementary medicine colleges. MSAIMA is a member of the International Council of Medical Acupuncture and Related Techniques (ICMART) and the only organization that is officially recognized by the Israeli Medical Association (IMA).


Goals of the MSAIMA


The MSAIMA has multiple missions:
  • To promote the integration of acupuncture in the hospital and HMO medical care.
  • To promote the integration of acupuncture in the curriculum of the medical faculties of the Israeli universities.
  • To organize scientific conferences, seminars and advanced courses and master-classes on acupuncture for the members of the society.
  • To publish electronic scientific journal and quarterly newsletters on acupuncture.
  • To keep in contact with the analogous foreign organization
